What is The Business Forum?

Down through the years, Belvederians have always done business with each other. Many business meetings have come to a successful conclusion and relations flourished when those in the meeting suddenly realised that the person across the table spent his formative years in Great Denmark Street. So, In the summer of 2011, a group of Old Belvederians including Eugene Bent (1976), Brendan Slein (1981) Mark Young (1983), Stephen Pitcher (1983), Kevin Lynch (1994) and Fergal Madden (1996) prepared the groundwork for a new Business Support Group which became the Belvedere Business Forum.

Its objective from the outset was ‘To Facilitate Belvederians in generating business for each other‘.

A series of events were planned and a total of six were held over the first year early in the morning, in the College with over 150 Old Belvederians, young and old, attending. Events have ranged from Budget briefings to doing business in China to maximising access to credit to exporting. We also had some fascinating insights on entrepreneurship and leadership from Vinnie Quinn of Jobs.ie, Sean Boylan, the former Meath County Manager and Neil O'Leary of Ion Equity who told their stories to a rapt audience.

Not only do the speakers at the events provide powerful business insights, but the business networking opportunities at the events have been key to the continued success of the Business Forum with a wide range of different industry sectors represented at all the meetings. It has provided a forum for all Old Belvederians to get to know one another, to help each other and to do business with one another.

And the Business Forum goes from strength to strength. To gauge interest and insights we conducted a short survey amongst the members of the Belvedere Union and this research was invaluable in determining what was important for the members of the Business Forum, and on what the committee should focus on for its members.

Membership is free and is open to all Old Belvederians and Parents of Current students, so if you feel like helping your business and helping others and want to connect with a wide range of businesses, do come along to our next Business Forum.
